Naughty Sugar Doughnuts Part II

So a while back I made some sugar doughnuts (see post). I thought they came out alright. However, I had trouble cooking them at the right temperature. I kept getting the outside of the doughnuts browned way too fast leaving the inside doughy. So I decided to try again.

All you need:

  • Olive Oil in Deep Fryer @ 325°
  • Canned Biscuits (Pillsbury Simply Buttermilk Biscuits)
  • Melted Butter
  • Sugar & Cinnamon
  • Powdered Sugar (new topping option)

Instead of using the Jumbo Buttermilk Biscuits that I used last time I decided to try just regular biscuits to give them an airier consistency.
I used Pillsbury Simply Buttermilk Biscuits
The second thing I decided to try was to do them in our deep fryer instead of the frying pan. I figured it would solve my temperature problem.

The combination of using the regular biscuits and the deep fryer made the difference. My doughnuts came out perfect!

Then my husband got the great idea to top them with powdered sugar in place of the cinnamon and sugar. What an awesome idea. They were so good with powdered sugar. They reminded me a little of fried dough. So I topped half of the doughnuts with sugar and cinnamon and the other half with powdered sugar.
